Barack Obama was the 44th president of the United States of America. The unique fact about his election is that he was also the first African American to be chosen for the presidency. First served in the office in 2008, Obama was elected for a second term in 2012. In general, Barack Obama’s presidency has generated a lot of interest not only in the United States but all over the world as well. Obama is not an international figure because of the color of his skin, but because of what he stands for, the values that he believes in. He managed to beat John McCain in the race to the White House not because he was a superhero, but because he embodied what Americans had been lacking for a very long time: hope.

After serving on the Illinois State Senate, he was elected a U.S. senator representing Illinois in 2004. He and wife Michelle Obama have two daughters, Malia and Sasha.
The son of parents from Kansas and Kenya, Barack Obama was born on August 4, 1961, and raised in Hawaii. The future president of the United States of America was born to Barack Obama, Sr., a Kenyan, and Stanley Ann Dunham, from the US. While attending the University of Hawaii at Manoa, Barack’s father met Ann Dunham. The couple got engaged and married on February 2, 1961. Six months later, the future American leader was born. The word “Barack” means “the one who is blessed.” Barack graduated from Harvard Law School and Columbia University.
