Napster Essay

February 2, 2010

Napster and many other music downloading companies have been the thorn in many musicians’ sides for sometime now. Everywhere you look here lately there is some controversy over whether or not it is a crime to download music for free. One of the articles that caught my eye is an article by Leonard Pitts.

The article is mainly about how it was only common sense that sooner or later this would become illegal. He makes his point clear throughout the article, but while doing this he has the talent to look at both sides of things, through the downloader’s point of view and the musicians. …

NASA Essay

September 22, 2009

The NASA Space Shuttle Disaster
The purpose of this paper is to discuss the core organizational problems that led to the crash of the Space Shuttle Challenger in 1986, recommend alternative solutions that could have been used to possibly prevent the crash, and develop a retrospective action plan for the recommended solution. The paper will also discuss how NASA could evaluate the effectiveness of the recommended solution.

Core Issues:
The crash of the Challenger was a stark reminder that despite all the technological advances we have witnessed over the past century, the human element can not be ignored. Although the crash of the Challenger was technically due to mechanical failure caused by both miscalculated O-ring tolerances and subnormal Florida temperatures, the crash was actually the unnecessary result of several organizational issues within NASA. …

Essay on Energy

Nuclear energy is defined by Webster’s Encyclopaedia as energy from the inner core or nucleus of the atom, as opposed to energy released in chemical processes, which is derived from the electrons surrounding the nucleus. Thus, since the atom was split, releasing nuclear energy for the first time, it ushered in a new era of political, economic and social debate in the history of humankind. For the first time humanity had to grapple with the intricacies that this new nuclear age brought with it. People had to struggle with the dichotomy of nuclear energy, in time recognising both the benefits and the drawbacks associated with nuclear energy. …

Essay on Information

March 3, 2009

This essay is based on the security of data and how it can be a problem for large corporations, and what can companies do to manage their data and resources properly. Information today has become one of business worlds and society’s most important resources, and managing this information has become a major challenge. It is for this reason that the security of data is very important to corporations. The strong desire to protect and control information is rooted in the notion that information has value. The value of quality in information will enable the business to make sound decisions and conversely the presence of errors will undermine the credibility and therefore the value of the information (Marschak 1968)….

Research Paper on Technology

Over the past decade, new technologies have come about having astronomically powerful impact on the economy. The leaps and bounds that the technology industry has taken weren’t always for the better. The downsides to all of these victories in man vs. machine have come with their problems and a price. These downfalls are far from over and we can expect a global conflict at the hands of technology in the near future. Technology has been used as a theft device in many respects, from jobs to copyrighted property. With unrestricted sources such as the internet, the ways to slow down this moral massacre are few and far between.

Many companies fear technology more than they embrace it. …

Essay on Mobile Phones

January 20, 2009

In the UK alone twenty seven to forty million people own mobile phones and the number is growing each day. Eight million of these are school-aged children. It is expected that four hundred and eighty three million mobile phones will be sold worldwide in 2003. The first cellular phone was tested in 1978 and since then mobile phones have become hugely popular and a controversial issue. How can any one argue against this marvelous invention of science?

Those against mobile phones argue that it slows the reaction of the driver by one third, when drivers are talking on mobile phones than when under the influence of alchola. For this and other reasons in some cities such as Satiago city in the Philippines mobile phones are banned in public to reduce accidents and disturbances. …
