In an academic world, one of the most common and popular assignments is an essay on health and nutrition. Every day a new company is founded. It enters the market and starts offering new products that altogether add to your food allowance. Every company boasts and brags about a range of healthy and nutritious ingredients they offer in their products, and promise to boost your health if you make sure to use their products.

However, the question is – should you really trust all of them? How can you be sure that all the food products you are consuming are really healthy and nutritious? The situation is unclear. You have to do your own research in order to find out what is really healthy for you and what is not.

That is exactly why professors ask students to do a little research on some major products they consume and find out if they are really healthy and helpful. These activities help students understand how to eat and what to consume in the future. What is more, the knowledge that they get help them avoid all the risks related to getting sick from eating something bad.
If you’re assigned a task to write a health and nutrition report, health and nutrition essay, health and nutrition research paper, or health and nutrition term paper – you will need to exert some efforts that are discussed in our guide below.

When writing a health and nutrition essay, make sure that all the data in it has to be exact, specific, and 100% accurate. If something in your paper is false, you put your whole health and nutrition essay paper under a huge question mark. Make sure that all the data you use in it is absolutely plagiarism-free, authentic, referenced, and cited. The point here is that the last thing you want is to submit a plagiarized paper. In other words, when using some outside sources, you have to make certain that you site them all, according to the writing style you are asked to write your health and nutrition paper in. In actual fact, this is one of the most common mistakes among student writers. The most popular writing styles are APA, MLA, Harvard, and Chicago. Before you start writing your health and nutrition essay, be sure to read about those styles to make sure you do the research on health and nutrition, and write your project correctly.
So, what is it that you have to start your work with?

Read your task carefully. The point is that the structure, the style, and the focus on your paper will vary depending on the type of it. Here are some of a few types of college essays, and short recommendations on how you should work on those:

  • The narrative essay in health and nutrition requires you to tell a story. In the case of the niche, you may be required to share your own experience on how you changed your diet, according to your fitness program.
  • The compare and contrast essay will include analyzing the similarities and differences between two issues, such as the nutrition habits of students in the US and some countries of the third world.
  • In case with the argumentative essay, you have to use examples and evidence to convince your audience of your viewpoint. Do you believe that there is a direct connection between your diet and the level of stress? You’re welcome to prove your point in your health and nutrition essay.
  • To write a critical essay, you may focus on the flaws of nutrition policies in the United States.
  • In your informative essay in the field of health and nutrition, educate your target readers on the nutritional practices for athletes or historical facts about the development of nutrition science.

Choosing the most appropriate and interesting topic is a must. The good thing is that the field of health and nutrition is rich in topics, which means there won’t be any problem with choosing one. Here is a list of the most popular health and nutrition essay topics:

  • Health Insurance Portability and Accountability Act of 1996
  • Health Care Dynamics in Australia
  • Community Health Nursing
  • Italian Health Care Practices
  • Can health status improve without economic development in populations?
  • Rights to Health in Developing Countries
  • The effects of alternative health care on scientific medicine
  • Physical Health in the USA
  • Why do people respond differently to illness and why is health so hard to define?
  • Compare and contrast the quality of health provision in an MEDC and an LEDC of your choice.
  • Can better nutrition decrease criminal activity?
  • The Importance of Nutrition and Fitness in Our Life’s
  • Health Starts With Nutritional Foods
  • Protein Energy Malnutrition
  • Nutrition In a Nutshell
  • Healthy Nutrition Has Changed Me

Whatever it is that you give your preference to, make sure you’re interested in a topic and don’t mind doing research on it.

The Introduction

In this section, your key goal is to present your position (which is also called as the “argument” or the “thesis statement”) on the chosen topic. However, before you get to the point where you have to produce your thesis, make sure to start your paper with the so-called “hook” – a piece of information that not only includes some useful information but also grabs your reader’s attention and makes them curious about what you’re going to tell next. Examples of effective hooks usually involve impressive facts (“some of the vegetable oils – like corn, sunflower, and soybean oil – have a huge amount of omega-6 fatty acids”), related quotations (“The human body has been designed to resist an infinite number of changes and attacks brought about by its environment. The secret of good health lies in successful adjustment to changing stresses on the body.”), and surprising stats (“According to research performed by Arizona State University, one in six women would rather be blind than obese”).

The Body

This part of your paper includes all the arguments that you have to present. It is important to produce a range of paragraphs focusing each on the main points that you’d like to make. Provide every paragraph with a topic sentence. Consider this – every paragraph of your body is like a thesis statement in miniature. You give a brief explanation of the main idea after your topic sentence and support it with solid examples and evidence. For instance, your topic sentence might sound like, “The scientists blame the obesity epidemics of the eighties on foods like butter, red meat, and eggs.” You could then support your statement by quoting some medical journal that includes information on the research. When you provide your arguments, ensure to show how each of them can be connected to the thesis statement.

The Conclusion

Even though the conclusion comes at the end of your paper, it doesn’t mean it is less important. It is your last chance to prove that your health and nutrition essay includes some specific knowledge that your audience may benefit from.

Some students tend to consider the final part of the essay as their second introduction. Just like an opening paragraph, your conclusion shouldn’t be too long and wordy – provide four or five short sentences.

Open your final section with the so-called transition, such as “finally,” “in conclusion,” “all in all,” etc. restate your thesis and refer to the hook from the introduction.
