According to David Lewis in the “paradox of time,” four thematic concerns arise that seek to explain which of the persons travelling in time is really him. The identity problem refers to the paradox where a time traveler’s personal time coincides with an external time and he meets his younger or older self. These four themes seek to prove the above point and answer the question of whether time travel is practically and theoretically possible and if so, then how can we avoid the paradoxes such as the grandfather’s paradox.

In this regard, how is it possible to identify the real self of this time traveler given that the identity is the paradox of time coincidence between the traveler’s personal time and external time? We must first identify the reason behind the notion how can two events, the traveler’s departure and arrival be separated by two unequal amounts of time. If we successfully address this question, then we are on the brink of identifying which of the persons present are really him. Besides, dealing with the problem of identity problems posed by time travel is much of an answer to identifying the real self, as defined by the time travel concept. Inevitably, it involves a discrepancy between time and time, such that when any traveler leaves and then arrives at their destination, then the time elapsed from departure to arrival is the duration of the journey (Lewis, 1976, p 34). However, if he is a time traveler, the situation is different because the separation in time flanked by departure and arrival does not equal the duration with their order in external time. Lee Towndrow is a renowned commercial and portrait photographer from Canada but currently based in U.S.A. Lee Towndrow began his profession as a photographer and designer with a design firm that he founded. The firm was popularly known for the artwork of creating the album cover for prominent bands from Canada including Sloan, The Inbreds, The Flashing Lights and Michelle McAdorey. Towndrow became a Flame artist in 2000. This happened at TOPIX Computer Graphics, an exposure that he utilized in creating effects for TV commercials and various music videos. He lived in Buenos Aires from 2004 to 2005, the place from which, he did a collaboration with Roberto Jacoby, Raumlabor-Berlin, m7red, Kiwi, Eugenia Herrera, and Cecilia Sainz on conceptual art projects like Proyecto Venus, ArteBA and Darkroom.

Every product of Towndrow is appealing and captures my attention. As part of his achievements, one of Lee Towndrow’s photographs was featured on the Applied Arts Photography’s cover as well as on the Illustration Annual which happened in the year 2000. Some other two photographs of Lee were selected and featured in the 2011 Graphics Top 100 collection of photographs. Michael Blake’s book Dances with Wolves reveals a very exciting story of the territorial war between settlers and Native Americans. The book has a Western setting depicting a frontier from a Native American’s point of view. Blake invites the reader to experience the regular pressure that had initially been placed on American by Settlers. John Dunbar, the major character, is a lieutenant who had initial sympathy for the settlers, links with a tribe belonging to Native Americans. This essay analyses Lieutenant Dunbar’s traits that made him abandon America’s allegiance and be part of the Comanches.

Dunbar is a brave man after deciding to be a leader of a troop in a civil war. Instead of having one of his legs face amputation, he decides to take a horse to war and ride next to his enemies where they have a full view of him. He goes into the enemy’s frontline so as to pronounce and face his death. The army belonging to the Union attacks as the confederates gets distracted by the ride Dunbar has decided to take. The war ends as a confederate riot. Dunbar survives the battle and they win the war and Dunbar is considered a hero. His creative nature is evident when he decides to distract the enemies from his troop. He also defends the village and sees them to victory following attacks from a rival tribe known as Pawnee. Their Eyes Were Watching God is a novel that was written by an African American author, Zora Neale Hurston. The book was launched in 1937 and primarily focuses on the life experiences of the protagonist Janie Crawford (Bloom 59). The story is set in central and southern Florida and epitomizes Janie’s search for self-awareness through love and relationships (Bowers 83). At the heart of the entire narration are the three marriages that Janie has gone through. The story analyses the quest for fulfillment, self-awareness and freedom by the main character through the experiences she had specifically in her three respective marriages. The story is told of her through a comprehensive flashback of her closest ally, Pheoby. The plot emanates in manner that after her extensive marriages, it becomes the role of Pheoby to narrate the story to the unaccommodating crowd (Scott 49). The book is an account of Janie’s struggle for self-awareness and fulfillment and the things she went through in order to achieve that. Continue Reading »

“The playground”
The smiling grass gives the impression of a healthy feeding by animals. The shining star from the East gives a sparkling outlook on the court giving the best of all Mother Nature can offer. The greenly parchments on the playground are a mouth-watering sight with kids displaying their skills in football and basketball. The movement of their feet resembling hockey sticks entails the search for happiness, compassion and togetherness by the kids. The running ball is all they want; the skinny ones are the fastest while the elephants bulldoze their tusks, as they chase the football. The shouting increases as the ball rolls to the east side chased by the impala fast handsome kid towards the trembling lily between the thin, tall gaping goal posts. A thunderous shot leaves a shaking net in its wake. Shouts of joy and jubilation fill the air. “Tap, tap, tap” as they move outdoing each other and “yeeeeees” the dunk is in. Clapping and shouting fills, the air with ecstasy and joy. The appealing smell of dust hits the nose as celebrations continue. Thumping of feet marks the end of celebrations. A parasite is an organism that resides in the living tissue of a host organism mainly for food benefit. Thus, a parasite has its long maturity period inside the host and may cause certain diseases but as for others, they have no apparent harm on their host. In most nations, the concept of separation of powers is a dominant factor despite the system of government of a country. This concept insists that the judiciary, the legislature and the executive branches of the government be separated from each other in terms of their day to day functioning. Separation of powers is a doctrine that was institutionalized many centuries ago, and it became strictly functional. In the modern day however, some nations tend to ignore it and this results to disputes. In Australia for instance, this concept has been extremely compromised to the extent that it no longer exists. This ignorance to separation of powers is witnessed between and among the three arms of government and between the commonwealth level and the state level of Australia. This paper will underline examples of cases that prove that indeed; there failure in separation of powers in Australia (Gelber, 2006).

The commonwealth and the state level
Australia has two levels of government, the federal government, which is the overall government of the land, and the state governments, which are independent and have their own premiers. The state governments thus rule themselves without any interference from the federal government. However, there are instances when the federal government interferes with the activities of the state governments. In the 2008 court ruling of the Betfair Pty Limited Vs Western Australia, the high court ruled that Western Australia had discriminatory rules against businessmen. This shows a violation of separation of powers of the state since its own courts had ruled against the Betfair case, (Kirk, 2011). Moreover, in the 2004 Fardon Vs Attorney general dispute, the Queensland high court ruled that Fardon be continually imprisoned because he was a potential threat to the public. Likewise, I would not tell what I wanted to do at this time as I was too young to understand what careers meant. Immediately I stepped into high school education, my mind was broad now and I would tell that my future lay in teaching. During my high school years, I interacted with many teachers who gave me insight into this career. My teachers really encouraged me to follow my passion as one is only able to succeed by following his/her interest. Apart from this, I attended many career talks during my high school years which gave more knowledge concerning career choices.

My race as a white would influence my teaching because I intend to work in a white dominated region of this country. As a result of this, I would not have any problem adjusting due to possible constrains that may come as a result of racial discrimination. Being from another race in the region would be challenging for anyone who is beginning to teach as there are no constrains due to racial prejudice. My being white would also enable me fit well in the area I intend to teach in the sense that I will be teaching children who do not have diverse cultures. Teaching becomes especially challenging when one meets students of various cultures and as a result of this, it becomes important to alter teaching methods so as to accommodate all cultures.
